EDF Energies Nouvelles is announcing the commissioning of the Pinelands (South Carolina) power plant by its US subsidiary EDF Renewable Energy. This biomass plant, which generates renewable energy from wood waste, reflects EDF Energies Nouvelles' intention of expanding in several sustainable forms of energy, alongside its core wind and solar energy activities.

EDF Renewable Energy, EDF Energies Nouvelles' US subsidiary, announces the commissioning of two new wind power plants, Bobcat Bluff and Shiloh IV, with an installed capacity respectively of 150 MW and 102.5 MW. Both wind power plants were commissioned at the end of December.

EDF is the official partner and electricity supplier for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held in London from 27th July until 12th August and from 29th August until 9th September 2012. The largest electricity producer in the UK, the Group will be supplying carbon-free electricity, 80% of which will come from British nuclear power plants and 20% from renewable sources of energy.

EDF launches Electranova Capital, an investment fund for energy start-ups specialising in innovative technologies that respect the environment
EDF joined forces with Idinvest Partners, a well-known expert when it comes to funding SMEs, to create a venture capital fund called Electranova Capital. The aim of this fund, endowed with a minimum investment capacity of €60 million, is to encourage the emergence of innovative projects focusing on new technologies with a view to embracing the challenge of a low-carbon energy model, for both energy production and usage.

EDF's sales in the first quarter of 2012 totalled €20.8 billion, showing6.5% organic growth compared to the first quarter of 2011. France contributed to the growth in sales, with 5.1% organic growth, as did theinternational segment, with 8.7% organic growth.
